Citizen smith started in september 1998 when a bunch of homeless people got together to try and create
a better life for themselves and others
|

we began by opening up an old court house building that had been empty for 5 years and set
about repairing and redecorating the place so that it could be re-opened to the public as useable
community space. After 3 months of hard work we felt happy enough to open.
|

our main activity was, and still is, our free or donation cafe which runs every sunday
from 2pm onwards. We provide a good healthy meal, enough tea to sink a ship and a multitude
of books and leaflets to help everyone keep up to date with whats going on.
our
cafe is a hassle free zone where everyone is welcome to come and relax and meet new people.
|

we are now at 161 college road, an old community center in kensal green which was due to be
demolished. We have been running the cafe there since February 1st 1999 with people coming from
all over london to chill out on a Sunday afternoon and eat some scrummy food. In the meantime
the development work seems to have been temporarily halted and we anticipate a pleasant summer in
one of londons quieter areas.
|

we will be going around the festivals this year with a herbal first-aid team who will
be able to advise you on the essentials of herbal remedies as well as providing excellent
magic potions.
